When the lovely British couple, Neil and Vicky Taylor called me about their website. I quickly Googled their business name and I could not find anything about their business online. I tried other search engines, nothing.
This was rather surprising, because they said they had been in business for several years. It turns out that they were making a simple mistakes in how they were marketing their business online and they are currently showing up as #1 in their town for their keywords. I will be sharing more tips on SEO for wedding business in another post but for now let’s talk about Otter Equipment & Wedding Rentals eCommerce Website Design. A few key factors for designing an eCommerce wedding site like this are the color palette that is suitable for both men and women, considering the target audience, and flexibility of the design that can be changed in the future as future products are added and articles are written. If you take a look around the internet for wedding websites with eCommerce capabilities, you will quickly come to the same conclusion that I did, that it must be custom designed to meet the client’s needs. Especially when you add the fact that they also rent items that are not for weddings by the week.
Designing a Website that is Both for Men and Women
Most of us are used to seeing wedding websites and all things for weddings all done in pink and flowers. That type of look really would not suit Otter Equipment because they also rent bbq grills and baby cribs to vacationers here in Orlando, FL. If you land on the website to rent a Bbq grill and you see lots of flowers and pink fonts, you’d most likely leave thinking this must not be the right place to rent a Bbq grill.
By the same token, if you come to a website hoping to plan your wedding rentals and you see everything is orange and black, you would probably think that this must not be a wedding website.
This is why the color palette went from simply orange and black with a friendly little otter to a gradient of orange to pink. As soon as we made that shift, the website started getting more traffic for weddings. It’s funny how a color change can bring in more traffic to a website.
Designing for Younger Women
A key factor in designing this eCommerce Website Design is considering the audience would most likely be younger women. These younger women are more frugal than their mothers were at their age. They love finding a bargain even when shopping for their wedding. They are more prone to DIY their wedding as well. They want to look at the option of planning everything themselves. For this reason, Love Marketing Studio has created content tailored towards these young ladies who are planning their weddings. This site includes a blog for adding new content on a regular basis.
eCommerce Website Design plus Blog
Adding a blog is an excellent way to keep your website up to date with changes in your industry, trends and fashions.
Flexibility in the Design
This eCommerce site is constantly changing. It’s important to be able to continuously showcase the latest and greatest products this client has to offer. I used Divi by Elegant Themes for WordPress along with Woo Commerce to create this website. Divi gives unlimited options for flexibility that most themes do not. I could tell right away that this feature would be valuable to this design.
This is one of my favorite eCommerce Website Design that I have created for many reasons mostly that the clients are such lovely individuals. So if you are planning a wedding or need to rent items for a vacation in Orlando, FL. I highly recommend, Otter Equipment & Wedding Rentals.
